Meet our Head Brewer!

Joey Lushing has been a South Glastonbury resident since 2003. He got his start homebrewing in the late 90s by taking the initiative himself to learn the industry and a variety of craft beer styles. His first commercial brewing job was as the Assistant Brewer at Olde Burnside Brewing Company with the McClellan family for three years. Joey was promoted as Head Brewer for the next 12 years, brewing their well-known Ten Penny and Dirty Penny Ales. After Burnside closed down in 2018, he took some time away from the beer industry and assisted in the cider production at Joseph Preli Farms in South Glastonbury, CT.

Joey has always been a supporter of Hops on the Hill since its inception, so it could not have been a better match for him to join the team as Head Brewer in 2021. Joey has added IPAs, sours, and fruit beers to the lineup, which have all been well received.
